The 2020 NEC is now adopted in NJ as of September 6, 2020. That will kick in the 6-month grace period.
You can write 2017 NEC on your permit and perform work to the 2017 NEC for the 6-month grace period.
If you do not indicate 2017 on the permit, your work will be inspected to the 2020 NEC starting Sept. 6th.
